Card allocation — Stableford
Players submit their actual competition score exactly as recorded. Aces High administration converts Par and Nett Stroke rounds through the official Aces High Conversion Table. A Card Holder’s balance can never fall below zero. During a Joker Round every card won or lost is doubled — one round can change an entire season.
Season requirements
The Inaugural Showcase runs from 1 January to 30 June. Card Holders play their normal WAGC competition rounds across the Showcase, and only the best 13 weekly scores count toward the final total. Plus the four Joker Rounds and the Magic Showdown final, a total of eighteen rounds to decide who wins both divisions.
The concept
Aces High launches as a twenty-six-week private golf challenge limited to fifty-two Card Holders only. Each Card Holder represents one playing card from a standard deck and competes through their normal official club competition rounds. For the Inaugural Showcase, all fifty-two Card Holders are members of The Western Australian Golf Club, split across four suits of thirteen.
Card Holder positions
Card Holder positions are limited to fifty-two. Each Card Holder receives an Aces High Player Card, season leaderboard access, eligibility for all season awards, eligibility for The Cut, eligibility for The Magic Showdown and eligibility to become the Ace of Aces. No entry fee — WAGC members play their normal club rounds. You select the card and suit you want. It is then confirmed — and if that card is already taken, you are offered another choice.
Season length
The Inaugural Showcase runs from 1 January to 30 June. That is twenty-six weeks — six months of official WAGC competition rounds. Card Holders play their normal WAGC competition rounds across the Showcase. Only the best thirteen scoring rounds count toward the final total, so consistency is rewarded over any single day. This structure rewards commitment while maintaining fairness for all competitors.
Eligibility
Aces High is built around registered Card Holders, official club competition rounds and verified result evidence. Card Holder entry, season participation and card allocation are managed through the official application process. Each of the four suits also carries two emergency players — named reserves ready to step in if a Card Holder is unable to complete the Showcase.
Eligible rounds
Only official club competition rounds count — Stableford, Par/Bogey or Nett Stroke, played over eighteen holes, using your official Golf Australia handicap on the day of play. Social rounds and charity days are not eligible unless run as an official club competition. Card Holders play their normal WAGC rounds through the Showcase; only the best thirteen weekly scores count toward the season total. Plus the four Joker Rounds and the Magic Showdown final, a total of eighteen rounds to decide who wins both divisions.
OFFICIAL WEEKLY BEST SCORE RULE
ACES HIGH™ is designed to reward both performance and participation.
Every eligible official WAGC result played by a Card Holder during a competition week must be submitted and recorded.
At the conclusion of that week, the leaderboard will automatically identify and retain that Card Holder’s highest ACES HIGH score.
Only this highest weekly score will count toward the Ace of Aces and be eligible to contribute to the Supreme Suit standings.
All other scores played during that week will remain recorded for verification but will not affect the competition totals.
If a Card Holder plays only once during the week, that result becomes their weekly score.
If a Card Holder plays several eligible competitions, their best converted ACES HIGH result becomes their weekly score.
If two results produce the same ACES HIGH value, the higher underlying official competition result will be retained. If those results are also equal, the earliest result played will be displayed.
If a Card Holder does not play an eligible competition during the week, no score will be recorded for that week.
Once a competition week has closed, the retained score is final unless an official Club scoring error is corrected.
At the completion of the 26 week season, each Card Holder’s best 13 retained weekly scores will count toward the Ace of Aces.
The four compulsory Joker Rounds are separate. The nominated Joker result is doubled whether positive or negative and cannot be replaced by another score played during that week.
The July Magic Showdown is also separate. It is one final official round and is added to the qualifying total.
Playing more eligible Club competitions provides more opportunities to produce a strong weekly score. This is intentional. It encourages participation, supports Club competitions and rewards Card Holders who remain actively involved throughout the season.
EVERY SCORE IS RECORDED. ONLY THE BEST SCORE OF THE WEEK COUNTS.
Score submission
Every eligible result is emailed to David Oliphant at david1591@outlook.com (backup: doliphant@pgamember.org.au). Use the buttons below — the email opens ready to fill in.
Each submission must include: the date played; the day’s scores — the WAGC end-of-day score sheet for the competition, showing each player’s name, handicap, GolfLink number and score; and your own Card Holder name, card, GolfLink number, handicap, competition format and score.
All results must be submitted before midnight on the day of play — no cards are awarded for submissions received after midnight.
Card allocation
Cards are awarded against Aces High Par — the common benchmark of 31 Stableford points (5 down par / 75 nett stroke). A round of 40+ points earns +5 cards; a round of 24 or less loses 2. Par and Nett Stroke rounds are converted through the official Aces High Conversion Table, and a Card Holder’s balance can never fall below zero. The full allocation table is published below.
Joker Events
Four Joker Events run through the Showcase — one each month from March to June: The Heat (March), The Fall (April), The Freeze (May) and The Awakening (June). During a Joker Round every card won or lost is doubled, so one round can change the Showcase. Dates are announced in advance.
The Champion Suit — the Supreme Suit
Alongside the individual contest, the fifty-two WAGC members form four suits of thirteen Card Holders. Every card a Card Holder earns counts toward their own standing and toward their suit, and the suit that finishes on top is crowned the Champion Suit — also known as the Supreme Suit.
The Cut & The Magic Showdown
At the end of the regular season only the top twenty-six ranked Card Holders advance — this is The Cut. A player inside the top 26 who has not recorded thirteen weekly scores becomes ineligible and is replaced by the next eligible competitor. The twenty-six qualifiers carry their season card total into The Magic Showdown, one final official round, where season total plus Finals result decides the champion. In The Magic Showdown every card won or lost is doubled — plus and minus — creating an exciting conclusion. The Magic Showdown Final is played on the first Saturday in July.
